Plug In
Lighting
The majority of our homes use lighting from sources that are wired throughout. They offer strong
light sources that light up most of a room, but they are not always ideal. They tend to use a lot of electricity
and it might be that not all of the room really needs to be lit for the occupant to complete the task in hand, or
simply to relax. This is why a lot of people choose to use plug in lighting over lighting that has been wired.
While it can be said that plug in lighting does not work any better than standard light sources,
they certainly have their advantages. A lot of the time, even in the darkest hours of the night, there is no need
to have lights on that is lighting half the room. For example, if a room is 20x20 and an individual is working, it
might be they only need a 4x4 space to be light.

This is where the benefits of plug in lighting really come into play. Think about when an
individual goes to bed at night and wants to watch a film, or simply read a book. The chances are that they really
want to wind down and relax and having the whole room lit is not really ideal. A small wall lamp or simply a small
plug in lamp on a bed side table will be sufficient in this instance.
One of the most popular types of plug in light facilities these days is the plug in wall lamp,
or wall sconce. This hangs above a
certain position and generally can be adjusted to suit the individual. These traditional lamps or sconces are extremely simple to operate, simple to
install, and they generally use a lot less electricity than the main lighting in the room. The only problem a user
might find is that a wall lamp is not removable after use, unless they have a tool kit on hand and 20 minutes to
spare.
Another type of light to consider
would be the ones that simply sit on a bedside table or small cabinet. They offer a similar amount of light to a
wall mounted lamp, but because they are not high up, they might not cover the same surface area. Generally, these
lamps are good to provide small amounts of lighting, allowing individuals to find their way around the house in the
darkest hours of the night.
