Wrought Iron Wall Sconces
A wrought iron wall sconce is typically a type of candle holder that hangs on the wall that is
made from wrought iron. However, these types of wrought iron sconces can actually hold real electric lights, as
well. We've highlighted the pictures of the different candle vs light types on this site.
These types of sconces are known for a few things. For one, they are known to be very durable.
For another, they are known to be very heavy! If you are going to be hanging a wrought iron wall sconce in your
home, then you will definitely want to keep a few things in mind.
Here are a few of the most important considerations to make in this situation; hopefully, you
will find the perfect wrought iron wall sconce for your home by keeping just a few of these important details in
mind!
First off, remember that the heavier your wrought iron wall sconce is, the more securely you
will need to attach it to the wall. It is not necessary that you use a huge lag bolt for a tiny sconce, but a nail
or hook embedded in a wall stud is probably a good idea.
Wrought iron is not light, and you will probably not want to test the gravity of such an object
by hanging it up with a thumb tack! Go to the hardware store, and pick up a few screw-in hooks that look sturdy
enough to get the job done. Then, using a cordless drill, drill a hole that is a few sizes smaller through the wall
and into a stud for a pilot hole.
Then, you can just use your hands or a pair of pliers to screw the hook into the wall. This is
probably the best strategy for putting up a wrought iron wall sconce, and this will ensure that it will not fall
down. It might be more labor intensive than putting up a nail with a hammer, but you will be thankful when you know
that your new sconce is definitely secure!
Wrought iron wall sconces, like all types of wall sconces, come in several
different sizes, so try to choose a size that fits what you want it to accomplish. If you just want a candle or
light here and there on the wall, then buying huge wrought iron wall sconces will probably not be the best
idea.
But, if you want to use soft lights or
candles to provide very warm accent lighting to a special room; say, for example, a meditation room, then you could
use wrought iron wall scones that are bigger so that they could hold bigger candles or lights. Just remember,
though, that you don’t want to leave candles lit unattended! Securing your wrought iron wall sconces, though, to
the studs through the wall will very much reduce the risk of any kind of accident.
Wrought iron wall sconces should probably not be too expensive, unless you buy a very
specialized design. You can get them custom made, with something as complex as a family crest on them! This can
cost a lot though, so unless it is for something very sensitive, you will save a lot of money by just buying
pre-fabricated wrought iron wall sconces.
